Javier Jara is an acclaimed musician known for his original compositions and renditions of classic Latin American songs, heavily influenced by the troubadour and Canción Social movements. In 2022, Javier made history as the first Spanish-speaking artist to win the prestigious New Folk Kerrville Songwriting Contest since its inception in 1972.

Recently, Javier completed a tour across Texas and New Mexico with his project, Our Rhythms, Our Voices, which highlights the Latin American immigrant experience through storytelling, music, and poetry. The studio album for this project is set for release in early September 2024.

Thanks to the support of an Elevate Grant, and in collaboration with Austin Unconducted, a 20-piece orchestra featuring Austin’s top string players, Javier brought Our Rhythms, Our Voices to the stage at the Long Center in September 2024, blending music and culture in a powerful performance.
