A Yeli is a ‘living archive’ of West African traditions\, someone who has mastered their art form from a young age through learning from parents\, community\, and various masters. \nFeaturing:\n\nIbrahima Dioubat: A celebrated djembefola\, Ibrahima is a master of the djembe\, the ‘star’ of West African percussion. His expertise and passion bring the rhythms of Guinea Conakry to life.\nSekouna Conte: Born into the Yeli tradition\, Sekouna is renowned for his skill on the Kora and also plays the n’goni (ancestor to the banjo)\, balafon\, and other instruments. Sekouna now resides in Mexico City\, where he performs and teaches percussion and dance.\n\nThe Yeli Ensemble is a collective that includes artists from West Africa and sometimes collaborates with local musicians.
